Halsey appeared to take a swipe the Grammy awards during last night’s American Music Awards.
The singer won Favourite Pop/Rock Song for her tune, Without Me.
Taking to the stage to accept her first-ever AMA award, the 25-year-old appeared to take a dig at the prestigious Grammy Awards.
Winners and nominees for the Grammys are selected by industry professionals, and presented by The Recording Academy – unlike winners of the American Music Awards, which are directly voted for by fans.
“Most of these awards aren’t really what the seem at all, but that’s ok because I’m up here right now,” she said.
“I am so thankful for the AMAs because they are the worlds largest fan-voted award show.”
“And I’m thankful for the fans because they’re the people who really give a shit about music,” she said to an eruption of cheers.
“I’m thankful for the AMAs for giving those people a voice, I’m going to keep making music for those people.”
Halsey was also nominated for Artist of The Year but lost out to Taylor Swift.
