RTE legend Gay Byrne has vowed not to retire – as he turns the big 8-0 today.
The former Late Late Show host has promised to continue working on his Lyric FM show and his one-man show across the country.
He said: “I have no plans to retire. I’ll be back on air at Lyric FM in the autumn.
“Then there’s the one man show, Kathleen is helping me out with that. I have no intention of taking any break.”

But Gay revealed that his daughters have left him in the dark on exactly what is happening.
“My daughters have arranged a get-together of friends and family,” he told the Sun.
“I don’t know all the details — it’s top secret — but it should be a great day.”
