Gay Byrne has revealed why he didn’t appear in Pat Kenny’s IFTA video.
Pat was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award on Friday night at the TV IFTA and was played a special message from co-stars and friends who wished him congratulations including Celine Dion.
“I went to bed on Sunday at 4am and woke up on Monday morning and I was a very sick man,” Gay said.

The 82-year-old was not able to be a part of the video because he got a “ferocious” attack of the hiccups but still sent him his well wishes.
“For the first time I had a ferocious attack of the hiccups,” he told the Irish Sun.
“That’s why I didn’t do a video insert for Pat but I send him heartfelt congratulations. This [award] is long overdue.”
