ITV has clarified the confusion surrounding the Love Island reunion.
Fans were left puzzled on Wednesday night when this year’s Islanders started posting about a reunion, despite previous reports that ITV had scrapped the reunion episode.
However, the broadcaster has since confirmed to Goss.ie that the reunion the stars attended was “not for broadcast.”
A spokesperson for the show told us the cast reunion “was a commercial event not for broadcast.”
The 2024 cast of the hit ITV show posted the night all over their social media, giving fans an insight into the reunion.
The party saw many of the viewers’ favourite pairings and groups reunite for the first time in weeks – including OG Islanders, bombshells, and Casa Amor stars.
The event took place at the Radio Rooftop London, where the venue was decorated with the Love Island logo and decals all around.
Earlier this week, ITV confirmed that they had scrapped plans for a reunion show because of how good the finale was, and how dramatic the final weeks were.
The broadcaster also claimed that new aspects of the show, such as the dumped Islanders returning ahead of the final to send Joey and Jessy home, took priority this year.
The Love Island reunion usually takes place a week or two after the final, and sees the entire cast meet up for the first time since leaving the villa.
The episode, filmed in the Aftersun studio, has provided plenty of drama in the past as the show’s host quizzes the Islanders about life since they left the show.
From Anton explaining why he doesn’t follow Molly-Mae on Instagram to Kady and Molly’s feud over swimwear, the Love Island reunion is typically a series highlight.
However, it looks like fans will have to stay tuned to the Islanders socials instead to see what they’ve been up to.
