EXCLUSIVE: Alan Hughes 'very upset' after being replaced as TV3 Toy Show host

Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes has told of his fury at being brutally axed as the host of TV3’s Toy Show.

The independent TV station are planning on taking on the Late Late Show with their own proper Toy Show – a week earlier.

But Alan exclusively told Goss.ie he is “very upset” at being dumped from the programme.

TV3 are planning an hour-and-a-half long broadcast at a child friendly time, in the hope of shooting down Ryan Tubridy.

Taking down: TV3 want to beat the Late Late Toy Show

But Ballymount have decided they won’t be giving Alan Hughes the job this year – despite giving him the job last year.

Last year, the Family Fortunes presenter was in charge of their Toy Show, which went out directly before the Late Late’s version.

However despite plaudits for his great job, it has emerged that the show’s new sponsor doesn’t want Alan involved.

He told Goss.ie: “I am very upset that a new sponsor has picked a new presenter.”

Sources told Goss.ie that the presenter, who is male, has been chosen despite expectation that Alan would take back on the role again.

An insider said: “Last year Alan was great at the role – he had little to run with, it was all last minute, but he did a fantastic job.

“The TV3 Toy Show did great in the ratings, and proved he was perfect for the role – and most of TV3, including Alan himself, thought he had the role this year. But not so. You can understand why Alan is annoyed.”
