Dylan McGrath: ‘I’m done with Masterchef’

Dylan McGrath has revealed that he’s “done with Masterchef”, and is working on a new project for RTÉ – that could rival the popular cookery show.

It was revealed back in June that TV3 had poached Masterchef from RTÉ – but judges Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath weren’t willing to make the move with a new station.

“It was a good experience and I met some great people.

“But I’m done with Masterchef. That said, I will be glued to the new show on TV3, but I like change and doing new stuff,” Dylan told the Irish Sun.

So long: Dylan is done with Masterchef

The 39-year-old is now working on a new project for RTÉ, which could rival TV3’s Masterchef – but Dylan’s keeping his lips sealed.

“It’s about seven or eight months away. We’re just taking our time to get everything right. But I’m excited we have something special.”

The news comes after Dylan’s popular haunt Fade Street Social was forced to close its doors for 24 hours on July 15, due to an order from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

Speaking about it for the first time, Dylan didn’t make a big deal of the closure – but admitted that he wanted to abide by the rules of the HSE.

“You got to listen to those guys. But it was only for a day.”

Billy Creaney, of Prime Steak Ltd which runs the McGrath operations, added, “We’d a drainage issue. We’d a third-party firm who we thought had taken care of the problem, but it turned out it hadn’t been done correctly.”
