Artists will compete to make the final of the show where they will be up against the winners from the English, Scottish and Welsh heats in a bid to become Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2014.

And Neil Hannon said: “I’m delighted to be asked to take part in the new series of Sky Arts: Portrait Artist of the Year 2014.

“I remember watching the trailers for the first series and thinking, oh no, they’re X Factoring portraiture now. But when I gave it a watch I was relieved to find it to be a thoughtful, genuine and often fascinating programme.

“I never thought they’d ask me to do it, and I can’t wait to sit perfectly still in an awkward position for four hours!”
