Colin Farrell insists: 'I don't care about what the critics think'

Hollywood star Colin Farrell has admitted he isn’t worried about reviews of his role in True Detective.

The critically acclaimed show is set to hit our screens in June and the Intermission star admitted the critics comments will be a blip “in the grand scheme” of his life.

“No doubt all the comparisons to the first season will rear their head,” he said.

“But you know what, whatever they say about me, it’s just a blip in the grand scheme of my life”.

Opening up about the age old celebrity dilemma – searching himself online, the Castleknock native has revealed he made sure to avoid any self-Googling when he was cast in hit crime drama.

“Whenever I’ve Googled myself in the past, I’ve always come away with the feeling that I am an absolute piece of shit,” he told Glamour Magazine.

“Everyone – from a dude in a basement in Kansas, to a fan in Dublin – has an opinion on how the show should be cast,” he admitted.

“I’m well aware of that, but you’ve got to step away from it, otherwise you fall down the rabbit hole”.

Playing compromised cop Ray Velcoro in the HBO neo-noir crime show, Colin admitted he’s loves that the drama is much more then just a ‘who-dunnit’ storyline.

“That’s the great thing about the show,” Colin shared.

“By episode three, you don’t give a f**k who killed who. It’s just a hook, a canvas, for everything else,

“That’s the power of HBO – they only source the sharpest, savviest writers. They get the best and then actors gravitate to that,” he added.

Pounds: Colin piled on the pounds for his recent roles

For the role, the Phonebooth star grew a moustache and piled on the pounds to give his character the perfect middle-aged look.

“People think it must be fun to eat what you want – and it is, for the first day,” he smiled.

“Day two, when you’re already on your second cheeseburger and fries with a chocolate shake by 11am, not so much”.

The star had to also put on weight for his role in The Lobster alongside Rachel Weisz admitting: “”I put on 43lb in seven weeks. It was torture”.
