RTE presenter Claire Byrne has said she felt bad leaving her children at home to return to work.

The mum-of-two has a freelance contract with RTE and returned to work quite quickly after giving birth to her two children.

And Claire has admitted she has felt guilty about going back to RTE.

“I did feel some guilt,” Claire said.

“But I believe that I’m a better person when I’m getting out of the house and consequently that is also better for my children.”

The broadcaster is mum to Patrick who is 14 months old and Jane just 15 weeks old.

Claire, 39, added that she’d be lost without her fiance Gerry Scollan.

“When I was coming back (to work), I thought ‘How am I going to manage this juggling act with two small babies?’

“Only for Gerry I’d be lost,” she told the RTE guide.

“He rescues me when things get tough and is really the only sane one in all of this.”

And the RTE star revealed she wouldn’t rule out having another baby.

“I never say never, but having had two babies in such quick succession, I can promise you that 2015 will be a baby-free zone.”

“We have made no plans since (for our wedding) and in truth we just don’t have the space in our heads. It might happen this year but if I was betting on it, I’d say it probably won’t.”
