Love Island star Chris Hughes broke down as he discussed girlfriend Jesy Nelson’s documentary in which she revealed that she had previously attempted to take her own life.
Speaking on This Morning, the reality star explained that his love was “overwhelmed” by the reactions to her documentary.
Chris himself then became overcome with emotion as her described how Jesy did not deserve the bullying she endured.
“She was completely overwhelmed,” Chris told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
“She rang me bless her 10 minutes after it aired. She was so overwhelmed, she just broke down on the phone to me.”
“She’s a strong girl now.”
He said: “I don’t know why I get so emotional every time I speak about it.”
The doc, Odd One Out, has broken not one, but two, BBC viewing records.
Commissioned by BBC Three, the emotional feature heard first-hand accounts of the effects that bullying had on Jesy and others.
