Celebrity Bear Hunt star reveals how Bear Grylls saved his life while filming the show

Although Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen made it out of Netflix’s Celebrity Bear Hunt alive, he revealed that he owes his life to Bear Grylls himself.

The brand new series sees a group of celebrities dropped in the jungle of Costa Rica to be hunted and caught by survival expert Bear Grylls.

As Bear put the celebrities through their paces and hunted them down, they would be eliminated from the show.

The Mail Online revealed that the interior designer almost died during a rafting incident whilst filming the series.

He was reportedly dragged underwater resulting in his heart-stopping after he got caught in a bungee rope.

Speaking with the outlet about the incident, Laurence revealed that it was Bear himself who came to his rescue.

“It turns out, I’m actually not built to be an Avenger,” he said, before explaining, “I was full of adrenaline and I was full of my own abilities which were actually sadly not quite up there.”

“I got stuck underneath the raft. But I was really stupid. I didn’t stop at that point. I then kept carrying on and then I started blacking out and I started getting these chest pains.”

“And the next thing I know I get Bear on top of me – which I know millions of people would give their arm for – but he felt like a damp bag of spanners!”

Although Laurence owes Bear his life, he is still annoyed that he was captured and eliminated from the competition – while going to the bathroom.

“Things were taking a bit longer and we were waiting to get into the Bear Pit and they kept giving us Gatorade which is just toxic,” he said.

“It was me, Steph [McGovern], and Mel B and the girls went to the loo a few times beforehand, I didn’t.”
