Caitriona Balfe ‘happy’ as Outlander confirmed for two more series

Caitriona Balfe has revealed her delight as her hit TV series Outlander has been commissioned for two more seasons.

The popular series, which is aired on the Starz channel, tells the story of married WWII combat nurse Claire Beauchamp (Caitriona), who finds herself transported to Scotland in 1743 where she then finds love with soldier Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

The show, which is based on author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels, announced the season renewal as the cast and crew celebrated World Outlander Day, which celebrates 25 years since Diana Gabaldon’s first novel in the series was published.

In a statement, Starz boss Chris Albrecht, said, “Outlander is like nothing seen before on television.

“From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story.

“It is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans.”

Caitriona has had a great year career wise, as she was nominated for a Golden Globe Awards, and she also took home a gong at the People’s Choice Awards for Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress.
