Interview! Brian Dowling: 'I feared I'd NEVER work again after being axed from Big Brother'

Brian Dowling has admitted he feared he would never get another job after he was fired from Big Brother.

However, the former winner of the reality series has bounced back with new TV3 show Sitting On A Fortune.

And the 34-year-old told Goss.ie: “The only person who can f**k this up now is me.”

He added: “When I walked on the set I was like ‘Oh shit, the set is really big. Oh shit it looks really good.’

“The clothes were amazing and I was like the only person who can f**k this up now is me. I was quite nervous because I’ve not done a primetime show since Big Brother which would have been a year and a half ago.

“I think you’re only as good as your last show and I was fired from my last show. It did knock my confidence a bit.

“Because you kind of doubt yourself and it’s not nice to know you’ve been fired and you feel slightly insecure. I didn’t cry about it but I kind of went, ‘Oh God, will I get a job again? What will people think?’.”

But Brian said it could have all been very different if things had gone his way – and he hadn’t got the main Big Brother show.

Instead, the Kildare man admitted he actually wanted the spin-off series which Rylan Clark is now hosting, and feels no anger towards Emma Willis for taking his job.

He told Goss.ie: “The thing is Emma and I were more colleagues than friends – I respect her, I like her. We didn’t hang out outside the show.

“We didn’t call each other or we didn’t text each other so we had a very professional cordial relationship. When I found out she was getting it – it was kind of an obvious choice for me.

“I saw her doing it because she was on board before I was. When I was a housemate on Ultimate Big Brother she was doing Little Brother and we both tested for the show and I presumed she would have got the main show.

“I wanted to do the spin off show I didn’t want the main show and they gave me the main show.”
