Although Ant and Dec are known for being a double act – it turns out there’s actually another man behind a lot of their hilarious gags.

According to The Mirror, Andy Milligan has been helping the TV presenters write their jokes for 12 years, and also wrote their best-selling autobiography.

An insider has claimed that Andy is “as important as Brian Epstein was for the Beatles” when it comes to Ant and Dec’s successful TV career.

A source said, “It might be Ant and Dec on screen, but off it they regularly work as a trio and it is Ant and Dec and Andy.”

“The boys have him involved in all of their big shows – Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity – and haven’t made a project without him in more than a decade.

“This year there was lots of scrutiny around Ant, but once again Andy has helped the boys look brilliant on screen.”

It has also been reported that Andy was the one who suggested addressing Ant’s recent stint in rehab in the opening episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this year.

The camera shy comic reportedly sleeps during the day, and starts working on potential jokes and sketches for Ant and Dec at around midnight. The presenters then arrive on set at around 3.30am, and go over the ideas with Andy.

Although Andy’s kept his work behind the scenes, his Twitter bio reads, “Written all things Ant & Dec for a canny while.”

He also appeared on stage alongside Ant and Dec when they picked up a Bafta earlier this year.
