Aidan Turner has admitted that his infamous topless scene in Poldark was his “bloody idea”.
The 33-year-old was branded a sex symbol after his famous shirtless scything scene in season one of Poldark, and while Aidan has admitted that the attention the scene attracted bothered him – he’s now revealed that going topless was actually his idea.
“It was never in the script that he takes his top off – it just made sense to me.
“That’s the worst thing about it. It was my bloody idea,” he told Radio Times magazine.

While the scene attracted over nine million viewers in the UK, and he’s been voted the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ – Aidan has admitted that taking his top off was never meant to be sexy, it was purely practical.
“It was probably a huge mistake. But Poldark’s out in the fields, it’s a really hot day, there’s a lot of work, and it wouldn’t have made sense with a top on.
“It was never supposed to be sexually provocative. So when the show came out and it all kicked off, I was a bit surprised. But it kind of put the show on the map,” he told the Daily Mirror.
Poldark will return to BBC One on September 4.Â
