The cast of Absolutely Fabulous has reunited 12 years after the last episode aired.
Jennifer Saunders who played PR boss Edina “Eddie” Monsoon on the show and Joanna Lumley, known for portraying her alcoholic friend Patsy Stone, will appear in a programme reflecting on the sitcom’s legacy.
Alongside the iconic duo, Julia Sawalha, who played Saffron Monsoon and Jane Horrocks, who played Bubble, will return.
Tom Hollander, actress Meera Syal, Saltburn director Emerald Fennell, and director Richard Curtis will also speak on the show, airing on comedy channel Gold.
Jennifer Saunders, who wrote and created the show, said: “I loved making Ab Fab but I can’t remember a great deal, so much of this retrospective is a revelation to me. Thank you Gold for this kind and helpful programme.”
Joanna Lumley added: “It was a fabulous wander down memory lane by actresses who only have the faintest grip on reality.”
“Really thrilling, and I hope vastly entertaining. I loved every second.”
The show will also pay tribute to June Whitfield, who has sadly passed away aged 93.
The actress was famously known as Eddie’s mother on the show.
Viewers will be treated to many archived materials, including original scripts and high-fashion ensembles created by costume designer Rebecca Hale.
Additionally, many of the original Polaroids featuring the various glam looks captured by series hair and makeup artist Jan Sewell will also be shared with viewers.
Fans have referred to the show as “Ab Fab” since it debuted on UK televisions in 1992.
The show followed Edina and retired model Patsy as they indulged in heavy drinking and drug use and chased 90s fads in an attempt to recreate their time in 1960s London.
Their hedonistic lifestyle frequently causes them to experience personal crises, which Eddie’s daughter Saffy, played by Sawalha, ultimately resolves.
Absolutely Fabulous: Inside Out will air on Gold at 9pm on 17 October.
The original episodes will air exclusively every night on Gold at 9pm weeknights in October.
