The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards take place tonight.
Doja Cat will host and perform at the show live from the Barclays Centre in New York.
In honour of tonight’s VMAs, we have taken a look back at some of our favourite red carpet looks from last year.
Take a look:
Lady Gaga stole the show last year with her six elaborate outfits, that were all accessorised with a cool custom face mask.
The singer took home awards including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for Rain on Me, her collaboration with Ariana Grande – as well as the show’s inaugural Tricon Award, which recognises an artist who is highly accomplished across three or more disciplines.
“This has not been an easy year for a lot of people, but what I see in the world is a massive triumph of courage,” she said, “Stay safe. Speak your mind and, I might sound like a broken record, but wear a mask. It’s a sign of respect.”
Ariana looked gorgeous in a black leather Mugler minidress and chunky white platform heels at last year’s VMAs.
The singer later stepped out on stage with Lady Gaga to perform their hit Rain On Me, wearing a purple iridescent set paired with a black face mask.
Miley Cyrus wore a black, strapless embroidered dress, with matching opera gloves, by Thierry Mugler.
The former Disney Channel star accessorised with black strappy heels, hoop earrings, a diamante necklace and a bold red lip.
Bebe Rexha donned a Lionne leather blazer dress with corset details for the 2020 VMAs.
The singer paired the look with a pair of black biker shorts, metallic nails and a swooping ponytail.
Madison Beer looked incredible as always for last year’s event.
The singer wore a Mugler Spring 2020 RTW Dress paired with black high heels.
We are obsessed!
Joey King opted for a bright Versace mini dress with cherry red heels and nails for the MTV VMAs 2020, and pinned her sleek, straight hairstyle back with clips.
Speaking to Travis Miller about her look, the Kissing Booth star admitted: “I’m wearing a lot of Spanx, I’ve got some fake makeup on my legs so that they look shiny, and yeah, I have extensions in my hair. So you know, I don’t really look like this.”
We loved Jaden Smith’s colour-block jacket at the 2020 VMAs.
Accessorising with colourful beaded necklaces and pink sunglasses, the actor was definitely one of the best dressed celebs on the night.
Sofia Carson always slays on the red carpet.
Her VMA look last year was a gorgeous red Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 Couture Gown, with a slicked back bun and statement earrings.
