Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes has told of her shock at the murder of a fellow beauty queen as she jetted to Miss World.
The Cork star was stunned by the news that Miss Honduras was killed just hours before she was due to jet to the pageant.
Police found the body of Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister Sofia this week – with her sister’s boyfriend admitting to the killing because Sofia danced with another man.

And Jessica said: “It’s such a horrific tragedy. It makes it even worse that it’s two sisters.
“That girl should be landing in London with the rest of us. I really feel for the girls’ family. It’s really horrible news.”
The 19-year-old will attend a remembrance service with the other Miss World contestants on Sunday.
