Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes: 'I thought Miss World was going to be a bitchfest – but everyone is so nice'

Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes is shocked how friendly Miss World is – after expected it’d be a “bitch-fest”.

The Cork beauty beat out 35 other hopefuls to nab the title of Miss Ireland and will now compete on the world stage in London on December 14.

And Jessica, who flew across to the UK last week, said she is shocked how nice the competition is.

“There’s no bitchiness at all, which has surprised me. I thought it was going to be more stressful that way” she said.

Jessica also admits that she had reservations about competing in the cut-throat beauty pageant on the flight to London.

However, the 20-year-old says she now feels more settled in to pageant life as she continues with rehearsals.

“Everyone is so gorgeous and so friendly. I think I’ve chatted to every contestant here already,” she added.

The business student also dismissed the rumours that models don’t eat anything in the run up to a competition.

She said: “Absolutely not. I’m actually at lunch now at the moment. We do really long days so need to fuel up and eat as much as we can.”

Meanwhile, Jessica is thrilled she has received the support of fellow Irish model Georgia Salpa who tipped her to be a big contender in her column.

She added: “It’s amazing, I’ve been following her for years. I’ve seen her go to the top in terms of modelling and it really means a lot to me that she rates me. She’s a big inspiration.”
