Mairead Ronan: ‘My husband encouraged me to start my own business’

Mairead Ronan has revealed that her husband Louis encouraged her to start her own company.

The presenter, who works in both Today FM and RTÉ, is pregnant with her second child – but that hasn’t slowed her down business wise.

Having recently launched a professional hair brush range, Faro, with her friend Debbie Lawless – Mairead admitted that she never “would have had the balls” to start her own business a few years ago.

“I wouldn’t have had the balls to do it years ago, life wouldn’t have allowed me. But Louis said, ‘Just go for it. What’s the worst that could happen? Nobody will have died and you’ve nothing to lose if you give it a go’,” she told the Herald.

“I realised that I would love to be my own boss, even for something so small. I love Today FM and doing my telly work, but I thought it would be so nice to have something that was just my own.

“And if it didn’t work out, at least I’d have an amazing collection of hairbrushes. We’re such a baby brand, we’re only going since last April but it’s going really well,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Mairead has finished up work in Today FM and will finish filming RTÉ’s Fittest Families on Saturday as she awaits the arrival of her second child.

Family: Mairead is already mum to son Dara | VIPIRELAND.COM

Mairead is already mum to nine-year-old Dara, but can’t wait to add another to her brood.

“I’m not nervous, I’m just excited. Now that I’m about to go off on maternity leave, it’s starting to hit me now. I’m thinking ‘God I have to have this baby now’. But I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m nearly 37 weeks gone now and, touch wood, it’s been a very, very easy pregnancy. I haven’t been sick at all. There’s the odd night when I can’t get comfortable with the belly but it’s all been great really,” she added.
