The woman who accused Cristiano Ronaldo of rape reportedly fled to Ireland to “escape the paparazzi”.

According to reports, former model Kathryn Mayorga jetted into Dublin on September 22, just days before her allegations against the footballer hit headlines.

After landing at Dublin Airport, the 34-year-old was questioned by members of the Garda National Immigration Bureau, and she told them that she was in Ireland for a short stay.

However, when Kathryn asked how she could “apply” to stay for longer, she was quizzed further – and she eventually confessed that she was in Ireland to “escape the paparazzi”.

Kathryn was initially “refused leave to land” due to her one-way ticket, but she was then given permission to remain in Ireland “on a temporary basis” until October 10 – after she handed over her passport and provided the address of a friend in Dublin.

The US native was allowed stay with a female friend in the Blackrock area, and was told her passport would be returned once she booked her return flight home.

Kathryn’s stay was reportedly extended until October 30 after she presented a medical note, but it’s understood she chose to leave the country before that date.

A US source told the Irish Sun on Sunday, “She initially said she was going to Ireland on a holiday but when she started asking about the procedure to stay in the country, the decision was taken to deny her entry.”

“The decision was then made to grant her permission to stay on a temporary basis. She was legally obliged to leave the country by October 30 but she left a few days before that. It is a very long way for her to go to escape the paparazzi.”

Last month, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed it had re-opened the 2009 rape investigation into Ronaldo.

Kathryn has claimed that the footballer assaulted her in a bedroom at the Palms Casino Resort in June 2009 – an accusation Ronaldo has strongly denied.
