What a hero: Damien Dempsey saves a woman from being mugged – with help of Love/Hate's John Connors

Musician Damien Dempsey has proven he’s one of the soundest stars going – after he saved the day yet again.

The Dubliner came to the aid of a woman being mugged in Fairview – months before he saved the life of a man who was drowning in Wexford.

It has emerged that Damien, as well as Love/Hate’s John Connors, jumped to the rescue when Joan Moore was being mugged.

The 38-year-old was in a chicken restaurant when a man jumped at her, pushed her to the ground, and starting fighting her for her bag.

And Joan was then saved by Damien and John – who played Patrick the pipe bomb maker in Love/Hate – who happened to be in the restaurant.

They chased him down the road, with the pair making sure she was safe afterwards – but admits she didn’t recognise who it was until the Gardai pointed it out.

She told the Herald: “They said, ‘Do you not know who that guy is? – he is off Love/Hate’.

“I have met John since at a charity event. I just said thanks to him. Both of them were great they got up and ran after him and came back to mind me and that’s something else.

“I would just like to say thanks very much to them both. I honestly don’t think it would have ended the way it did if they weren’t there.”
