Westlife’s Nicky Byrne has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his late dad on the anniversary of his death.
The singer’s father, also named Nicky, passed suddenly from a heart attack in 2009 aged just 60.
Now, fifteen years on, the 46-year-old has shared a touching message on Instagram to mark the day.
Sharing a number of throwback snaps, Nicky wrote: “15 years ago, Nov 3rd 2009 we lost our Dad.”
“Thinking of him today ❤️ He was a great man.”
“He was a great Dad. He was just great X”
The Westlife star continued to share a number of people talking about their fathers.
The video began with one man saying: “You know, he was my dad. I think every kid thinks like that about his dad.”
“His dad is – like your dad’s your protector. Your dad is like, the coolest guy in the world.”
Another continued: “As you get older, you know, when you’re a kid, you don’t necessarily understand or even appreciate what your dad is trying to do for you.”
“But it’s only when you get older, you step back, you move out the house, maybe even start a family on your own.”
“You start to really realise, what that man meant to me. My dad, what he tried to teach me, all the lessons.”
A third said: “Who’s my hero? That’s a great question. Well, I think my dad is my hero.”
“Because he’s someone that I look up to every day. My dad.”
His post ended with a quote: “Hey dad, just wanted to tell you that I miss you. Until we meet again.”
