Brendan O’Carroll has revealed that he was never supposed to play Mrs Brown.
The comedian, who has become famous for his role as Irish mammy Agnes Brown, appeared on ITV’s This Morning – and admitted that after an actress fell ill, he was forced to step in, and luckily he had the voice for it.
The series was originally written by Brendan for radio, and as he was pushed for time, he asked friends and family for help voicing the characters.
After putting the episodes together, the editor asked who voiced Mrs Brown, and when Brendan revealed that it was him – he suddenly found himself “in a wig and a bra”.
