Voice of Ireland star Jamelia feared she'd be KILLED by abusive partner

Voice of Ireland judge Jamelia has admitted she feared being killed when she was in an extremely abusive relationship.

The UK pop sensation was brutally abused by her partner of four years – and knew she had to leave before being killed.

She said: “I was completely fearful of being killed. I thought, I’d much rather leave and risk him killing me, then stay with him and have my daughter watch him slowly kill me.”

The 33-year-old – who bosses are trying to secure for the upcoming season of The Voice of Ireland – said she would be on Top of the Pops then come home to be punched in the face.

Jamelia ended up releasing the song Thank You in 2003 about her horrible experience, describing the song writing process as “very therapeutic.”

She added: “I would be on Top Of The Pops one minute, and then going home and getting punched in the face. It’s shocking, but that was my reality.”

And Jameila told Loose Women is was so hard it was for her to ask for help, and will always be scarred by the hell.

Terror: Jamelia opens up about suffering from domestic abuse

“I think there are a multitude of factors – I was young, and it didn’t happen until a year into the relationship,” she said.

“I was with him for four years and by that time I was in love with him, that was my reason. I believed he loved me.”

“I stopped talking to my family, I stopped being around them. Not in a way that we were in an argument or anything. Just so I kept myself to him. He became my whole world – everything.”

But Jamelia knows that she will never get over the pain.

She said: “The thing is with domestic abuse is it’s something you never get over. You can come to terms with it and forgive, but the scars will always remain.

“The best thing I could have ever done was share my story – to let other women know that they are not alone, because that’s exactly how I felt.”
