Virgin Media have confirmed Aidan Cooney’s departure from Ireland AM.

The presenter has been absent from the show for over two months, but has continued his regular 2PM – 5PM slot on Q102 throughout the weeks.

It has now officially been confirmed that he will not return to the morning programme, as a Virgin Media spokesperson told The Sunday World: “We can confirm that Aidan Cooney has left Ireland AM.

“On behalf of his colleagues in Virgin Media Television, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Aidan for his contribution to the station and to wish him the very best.”

Aidan joined TV3 in 1998 and the confirmation of his departure comes just three months after the station rebranded as Virgin Media Television.
