Irish actress Victoria Smurfit had her car broken into while hiking in a remote part of Portland, Oregon with her kids in between filming.
The 41-year-old had hidden her bag under the passenger seat and came back from her hike to find her car window smashed and her bag nowhere to be seen.
Unfortunately for the thieves, Victoria wasn’t going to let the culprits get away with it.
The amateur thieves cashed cheques they found in the car – in their real names – which prompted Victoria to put her detective badge on to trace the culprits on Facebook.

Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on RTÉ Radio 1, Victoria referred to herself as Detective Smurfit.
“I was just trawling [through] Facebook and I find him, I find the fella who’d written a cheque to himself lives in Portland and works at the grocery store he tried to spend all the money at, so that wasn’t too difficult.”
She then went on to look for the second thief, a woman.
“I got psychotic, and started looking for the name and address of the woman on another cheque and realised she had used her maiden name, [so I had to] track down her maiden name, track down her husband and I found her phone number.”

The star then handed the information she had gathered into the police to take over, but she was unsure whether they caught the thieves or not.
“I did it in my best detective chief inspector dialogue that I could remember. I don’t know if anything has happened these fellas, I haven’t a clue.”
Speaking of her detective skills, she rivaled her skills with the police as she “put them to shame.”
“It didn’t take long [to find them] so I put the Portland police to shame a little bit. Like ‘come on lads’, they’re just down the road.”
