Vanessa Butler shares her advice for fellow ‘Covid brides’ after lockdown wedding

Vanessa Butler has shared her advice for fellow ‘Covid brides’, after marrying her longterm love Sean O’Callaghan this week.

On Tuesday, the classical singer tied the knot at Cabra Castle with just six guests in attendance – including her social media star brother James Patrice.

The couple were originally supposed to wed last April, but postponed their big day due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Jennifer Zamparelli on RTÉ 2fm this morning, the Malahide native gushed about their lockdown wedding, and admitted she wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Vanessa said: “My face is absolutely killing me from smiling. I can honestly say it was the best day, I know it sounds really cliché, but it actually was.”

“Myself and Sean never even once thought about Covid… just our families being together, and we got a meal handed to us!”

“I can honestly say it was just amazing, the feeling… you could bottle it. It was just so good, and for any couples out there that are in limbo about postponing, my only advice is do whats right for you,” she said.

“Last year was a different story for us, because we didn’t know what to expect, you know we didn’t know what was going on.”

“But we’re so happy that we went ahead with it, and I would do it all over again with six guests.”

Speaking to other couples that are set to wed this year, Vanessa added: “Go ahead with it guys, because its just the best feeling in the world. And as I said, if I could bottle it up and give it to everyone right now I would.”

The music teacher, who wore a Stella York gown from Frilly Frocks in Drogheda, also explained how she convinced both families to take part in an epic video for James’ Instagram page.

On Wednesday night, the TV presenter posted a video of Vanessa and Sean’s wedding party dancing to Tragedy by Steps.

The newlywed explained: “So myself and James, from a very young age, we always said whoever got married first would do the Steps routine of Tragedy.”

Vanessa admitted they “didn’t tell anybody” about their plans, and sprung the idea on them when they were taking photos outside.

Jennifer described the video as “one of the greatest things” she’s ever seen, and Vanessa confirmed they were in stitches filming the video on James’ phone.
