TV3's Alan Hughes believes he deserves Freedom of Dublin – for services to PANTO

Ireland AM star Alan Hughes believes he deserves the Freedom of Dublin – for services to panto.

The TV3 star thinks he should follow in the footsteps of Brian O’Driscoll, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa.

The 44-year-old – who is known for Sammy Sausages in his annual Christmas pantos – now wants Dublin councillors to consider him for the honour of getting the Keys to the City.

“I’ve been doing panto for 21 years now,” he told the Irish Independent.

“That’s longer than Twink and Maureen Potter so perhaps I could get it for providing entertainment to the children of Dublin.”

It comes as Alan’s husband Karl Broderick is starting the search to find the leading lady to play Cinderella in their Christmas production.

They will be going up against Louis Walsh’s newest boyband Hometown in Aladdin.
