Barry Cassin has sadly passed away at the age of 92.
The actor and director had a career spanning over 65 years, which included a number of TV, film and theatre roles, namely the stage production of Twelve Angry Men, and most recently – Neil Jordan’s 2012 film Byzantium, alongside Saoirse Ronan.
Barry also had a recurring role as Luke O’Malley in RTÉ soap Fair City in the early Nineties.
The star is survived by his five children, including RTÉ Nationwide presenter Anne Cassin. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy.
Since the news of his death broke this evening, fans and friends of the actor have taken to Twitter to pay their respects.
