The 39-year-old actor spoke at a Waking The Feminists event in Dublin’s Abbey Theatre.

The actor, known for playing Nidge in Love/Hate, also said, “There are a myriad of subtle ways that women in rehearsal rooms and on sets are deliberately or otherwise made to feel less.”

The IFTA award-winning actor said that he wants to be proactive in taking a stand against these issues, in order to create a fairer working environment for both men and women.

“The one thing I have resolved to do is to strive to be active in support rather than simply standing on the sidelines playing lip service to an ideal, to be more educated about the intricacies of gender inequality and to use that knowledge to play a part in making real change happen.”
