THIS is how many people tuned in to watch the Late Late Toy Show

RTÉ has revealed that a whopping 1.7 million people tuned in to this year’s Late Late Toy Show.

The beloved annual edition of the Late Late Show is regularly the most viewed show on Irish television.

On the night of the show, 1.35 million people gathered around their television sets to watch the show live.

1.7 million tuned in overall, watching the show on RTÉ One +1 on Friday, and the re-run on Saturday afternoon.

“We were just bowled over by the children, all of whom came out with these beautiful stories and lessons in life and above all else, a sense of kindness and warmth and innocence and childhood, which is the essence of The Late Late Toy Show experience,” said show host Ryan Tubridy.

Last year, 1.3 million people watched the Late Late Toy Show live, with figures up slightly this year.

The show has been hailed as one of the best in recent years by viewers, touching on a number of issues facing children today.

Many fans resonated with brave 8-year-old Sophia Maher on the show, who discussed being bullied daily for her cropped hair cut.

Many praised Sophia for her bravery, including 2FM reporter Lottie Ryan, who revealed her own bullying experiences while being announced for the RTE Dancing With The Stars line up.
