This year has been a year full of ups and downs in showbiz, and most of all SHOCKERS that have caused us to stop and say, ‘wait what?’

From shock celeb splits, to TV stars getting the axe – it’s been quite a whirlwind 2015 for some of our celebs.

To reminisce on the most shocking moments of this past year, we’ve compiled a list of the Top 13 most shocking stories from 2015 on Goss.ie – and trust us, theres some real jaw droppers in there.

1. One Direction’s hiatus announcement

This was the news that broke so many hearts all over the world, that One Direction will be taking a break in 2016 for at least a year.

Lots of speculation surrounded the band’s decision to go on hiatus, but the 1D boys have continuously shook the controversy by saying they simply need some time off to do nothing.

Our Mullingar man Niall reassured fans on Twitter by telling them “don’t worry” and that they have lots more they want to achieve after their time off.

The band recently performed for the last time on the X Factor in an emotional performance before they went on their hiatus.

We’re gonna miss them!

 

2. Westlife CIA torture tactic claims

This story was definitely one of the most bizarre from 2015,  when it was claimed that Westlife’s song My Love had been used as a torture tactic by the CIA.

Westlife band member Kian Egan retaliated to the claims by saying that anyone would crack listening to a Westlife song for two hours, while Nicky Byrne originally thought the claims stemmed from a joke Waterford Whispers article. 

No need to worry lads, we personally think My Love was a tune.

3. Michael Fassbender revealed he aroused a HORSE

Another incredibly bizarre story from the past year – when Michael Fassbender admitted on The Graham Norton Show that he, ahem, excited a horse on set of Jane Eyre.  

Explaining the awkward situation, Michael said that the horse “used to get quite aroused whenever I got on his back”.

Now we all know Michael is very handsome individual, but this set tale of Michael’s was just comical.

 

4. Jonathan Rhys Meyers pictured drunk in the streets

When photos of Jonathan Rhys Meyers looking worse for wear swigging out of a bottle of vodka in the streets surfaced, they were pretty shocking to see.

Around the time it was also claimed that local off-licence owners in London refused to serve Jonathan due to the state he was in.

The Tudors star has had previous battles with alcohol and has had several stints in rehab was clearly going through a tough time and later apologised to fans through his fiancée’s Instagram account.

The talented actor has since turned things around and made a comeback, landing a role in Roots among other projects.

 

5. Alan Hughes VS. Oliver Callan

This was the feud of 2015 that kept on giving, and these two certainly know how to throw a verbal punch.

The feud began after Oliver slagged off Alan’s proposal to his long-term partner Karl live on Ireland AM.

The fight was then fuelled with fire when Alan hit back, branding Oliver as a “bitter old queen”, with Oliver hitting back by saying Alan looked like “he sleeps in formaldehyde”.

Thankfully, Alan recently revealed to Goss.ie that he’d like to put the feud to bed and said that he “doesn’t have time” for petty fights.

 

6. When Markus Feehily became a CATERER after Westlife split

Fans were left shocked when they found Markus Feehily working as a caterer in London after the band ended.

The Sligo native converted an old van into a catering service for music festivals, and fans couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Mark from Westlife serving them tea and coffee.

The singer has since said that he didn’t set up his mobile coffee business because he was broke, and that it was all for a bit of a laugh really.

Now, Markus has left his catering days behind him as he released his debut solo album Fire back in October. 

 

7. Jamie Dornan QUITS Fifty Shades of Grey franchise

When reports surfaced that Jamie Dornan was going to quit the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise due to his wife reportedly being unhappy with his explicit sex scenes – the whole world stopped.

Thankfully, the world started turning again as Jamie released a statement through his agent that he would indeed be reprising his role as Christian Grey – HURRAH!

At the moment, Jamie is enjoying his time filming The Fall in Belfast, and taking LOTS of selfies with his adoring fans while he’s at it. 

 

8. Aidan Turner and Sarah Greene SPLIT

We couldn’t believe it when Aidan Turner admitted in an interview that he was now single, implying that he had split with his girlfriend of five years Sarah Greene.

The notoriously private pair met in the Gaiety School of Acting and seemed like they were both in it for the long haul, but unfortunately the couple went their separate ways.

Now that Aidan is single, and being hailed as a potential new James Bond after his performance in BBC drama And Then There Were None, we compiled a list of the gals we’d like Aidan to potentially date next.

 

9. Brian McFadden and Vogue Williams SPLIT

We were all very sad when one of our favourite couples Brian McFadden and Vogue Williams both announced their split back in July after three years of marriage.

Despite the pair going their separate ways, they have both remained the best of friends with their split going down as one of the most amicable breakups in celebrity history.

In fact, the exes recently just spent Christmas together, with Brian also admitting that he still acts as Vogue’s chauffeur in London. 

 

10. Gerald Keane and Lisa Murphy OFF again ON again relationship

After Gerald Keane and Lisa Murphy announced their split for the THIRD time in January, bookies were already betting that the notoriously on again off again couple would get back together – and let’s just say, they were right.

The pair rekindled their rollercoaster romance back in April, and we just can’t keep up with these two.

The last we heard from the couple was when they exclusively revealed to Goss.ie that they we’re “defineitely getting married” but havn’t set a date yet.

We wish the pair of them the best of luck – and let’s hope they eventually make it up the aisle!

 

11. Fair City’s Rachel Sarah Murphy AXED from RTE show

This was definitely one of the most shocking stories to break in 2015 for Fair City fans, when Rachel Sarah Murphy revealed she was to be written out of the show.

The actress, who played Jo Fahey for the last 16 years in Carrigstown, admitted that she”didn’t see it coming – nobody did among the cast, they’re in shock too. I would never have left”.

Although leaving the RTÉ show after so many years is sad, we’re sure Rachel will line up plenty of projects in the future.
