Thalia Heffernan on DWTS: ‘I understand the Strictly curse now – it’s intense’

Thalia Heffernan has admitted that she now “understands” the ‘Strictly curse’, after rehearsing with her dance partner, Curtis Pritchard, over the past few weeks.

BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing is notorious for the celebrity contestants hooking up with their professional dance partners, and Thalia has said that she can see how it can happen, due to the amount of one on one time in the studio.

“I didn’t know that was a real thing. I understand it now,” she told the Herald. “It’s such an intense experience.

“I’ve never ever been that close to someone I wasn’t in a relationship with, be it the number of hours you spend with them or the dancing itself.

Spin me like one of your dancer girls @curtispritchard12 ???❤️

“You’re one on one in a studio for hours. We do 12 hours a week, sometimes less, sometimes more.”

Apart from the idea of romance, the 21-year-old model admitted that Curtis, who’s older brother AJ works as a pro dancer on Strictly Come Dancing in the UK, is pretty tough on her in rehearsals.

“He’s tough on me, but I make fun of him all the time. Then he makes fun of me. It’s all light-hearted, but he definitely has whipped me into shape.

“They’re all very tough. They have that competitive streak and they’re here to win it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Thalia, who recently split from her artist boyfriend Maser, told Goss.ie that the last thing she needs “is a bloody man” at the moment.
