Suzanne Jackson reveals why her tanning product is being taken off the market

Suzanne Jackson has some bad news for fans of her Dripping Gold Ultra Dark tan.

Due to a new EU regulation, the influencer has had to reformulate her tanning products, which has proven “difficult” over the past few months.

Explaining the situation on her Instagram Story, the Dublin native said: “I hate having to have this conversation, because I thought this day would never come, but here we are…”

“So in short, recently the EU decided to restrict the use of DHA to a maximum of 10% in cosmetics.”

“So what that means is if you have anything more than 10% DHA in your products, you need to reformulate,” she said.

“DHA is the active ingredient in tan that gives your skin that deep colour. And obviously the darker you go with your tan, the more DHA is in the tan.”

“And now that we’re only allowed to use 10%, most tanning brands are having to reformulate to include other ingredients like tan enhancers and things like that to make the tan as dark as it was before this regulation came in, which is proving difficult.”

“But I’m sure we will get it over the line,” Suzanne continued.

“Our Ultra Dark is nowhere near being what it was, so that’s disappointing, but I’m hoping as time moves on and more ingredients become available, we can eventually get that back to where it was.”

“But from April 2022, it won’t be on the market. Ultra Dark in particular.”

Suzanne reassured her followers that all her Dripping Gold products go through testing and are “absolutely safe” to use, but this new restriction has forced them to reformulate their tan.

The 37-year-old then encouraged fans of Dripping Gold to stock up on their favourite products before the new regulations come into place in April.

“Our stocks obviously are limited, but there is time between now and April to bag your favourite tan formulation, whatever brand that may be,” she said.

“All we have in the warehouse is all we’re going to have until the reformulation kicks in, which we’re nearly there with our Medium and Dark.”

“We just need to get the Ultra Dark to where it was, which as I said is proving difficult. But I’m hoping that by the end of the summer we’ll have it.”

“I just don’t know if we’re going to have it by April. But we’re definitely going to have our Medium and our Dark mousse, lotion and liquid,” Suzanne explained.

“So if Ultra Dark is your fave, I would say stock up now. And the same applies for Bahama Body, and I’m sure other tan brands that you use.”

“I’m vocalising this now so you can either stock up, or so you’re aware of these changes because you should be aware of these changes that are coming.”

“So yeah Ultra Dark, if that’s your baby, I’d definitely be adding to your basket x10, because you’re probably not going to be able to get it till after the summer and it’s gonna be gone in April.”

Suzanne confessed she was disappointed over the new regulation, as she’s concerned tanning products will never be the same again.

“It is what it is, we have to adhere to the rules and regulations, and that’s what we’re doing,” she said.

“I can still promise you we’ll have an amazing tan brand on the market, I just personally don’t feel like it’s ever going to be the same again.”

“But who knows! I’m just trying to give you guys the worst case scenario, and that is that tanning won’t be the same, but let’s hope it will.”
