Strictly Come Daniel! Daniel O'Donnell admits: 'God help whoever gets me'

Daniel O’Donnell is set to swap the stage for the dancefloor after he was announced as a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The singing sensation, who performed at the Rose of Tralee earlier this week, admitted it will be a challenge.

“I don’t know if I’m as good as I need to be but I’m going to try. There’s a lot of rehearsals and physical work which I’m not used to,” he said.

Although ready for the feat ahead, Daniel revealed his partner will have their work cut-out for them when they begin rehearsals.

“I can dance but don’t be in a certain place at a certain time, this is going to be very hard for me. God help whoever gets me,” he told BBC Radio 2.

A self-confessed fan of the show, the 53-year-old admitted it’s a “honour” to be asked on the show.

“It’s exciting and quite an honour to be asked, because there’s so many people that could be asked,” he added.

The Donegal crooner also revealed his wife, Majella O’Donnell, is completely behind him taking part on the show.

“She said ‘You can have time off any time, don’t miss this,” he revealed.

Daniel is the eighth contestant to be announced for the show and will join other stars such as singer Peter Andre and former Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote for the new series.
