Sinead O'Connor calls in the Gardai after being STALKED by an abusive secret ex-boyfriend

Sinead O’Connor has revealed she is being stalked by a secret abusive boyfriend – and has had to call the Gardai in.

The Take Me To Church star admitted she is afraid to even stay in her own house and “have had to change my house locks”.

She said: “I have two small children living in my house. How is it pleasing to you to be scaring a single mother?

“I would prefer not to feel frightened walking across my garden at night. I have repeatedly asked you to stop harassing me and you will not.”

Worried: Sinead has spoke out about abuse

The Wicklow singer officially started a relationship with the man – who she does not name – in March this year after dating him on-and-off for two years.

But Sinead said she has been receiving a bombardment of “abusive emails” since their last split two months ago.

And Sinead warned that the man – who lives with his mum – is “a very dangerous individual” who has conned her into going back to him in the past.

She said: “I have repeatedly asked you to stop harassing me and you will not. I have broken with you approximately six times. Each time you have bombarded me similarly.

“And like all abusing men, you have written me almost exactly the same ‘apology’ letters afterward. ‘I’m so ashamed’. ‘I’m appalled I could have behaved that way’. Etc, etc, etc.

“I have about six of them. The same wording each time. As if you have it all written and ready like the Queen’s obituary, to send whenever.”

She added: “I have, like all females caught up with an abusive man, felt sorry for you, fallen for your act, and believed you and stupidly gone back out with you.”

Now Sinead has spoken out for fear that the emotional torment could turn into physical abuse.

She added: “Not that you had yet got to lay a hand on me. You’ve done it with words instead. But you might one day go further. Yes you might.”

Abused: Sinead fears it could turn physical

Writing on her blog, Sinead insisted that she “did nothing at all to deserve or warrant the abuse”.

She said: “You had a good friend, that was me. I was kind to you. I looked after you. When you were broken I held you together.

“I gave you love and I gave you stuff, to make you happy and make sure you were ok. I defended you to my elder children when they said they didn’t want me to go back out with you.

“I ought not have. I broke with you two months ago because you were speaking so frighteningly about your mother. I did nothing at all to deserve or warrant the abuse I’m still having to tolerate.”
