Bláthnaid Treacy is set to cover Sinead Kennedy on RTÉ’s Today, as the presenter begins her maternity leave.
Sinead is expecting her first child with husband Conor Kirwin, with Bláthnaid filling in for her to co-host with Dáithí Ó’Sé for the rest of March.
The Bray native said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the show having presented alongside Dáithí before.”
“It’s such a great programme, a staple of Irish television for so many years with Maura, Dáithí and Sinéad. I want to wish my good friend Sinéad the very best of luck on her maternity leave.”
“She’s left behind some stylish shoes to fill,” Bláthnaid added.
Sinead joined the Today show team in September, after Maura Derrane decided to take a step back from presenting duties.
She hosts the show with Dáithí Ó Sé on Mondays and Tuesdays, before Maura returns as co-host on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Bláthnaid is the perfect replacement for Sinead, as she’s already a regular on the show.
The presenter has filled in for Maura in the past, and she also hosts a review segment on the show every Monday.
Bláthnaid will co-host six shows starting on March 15, presenting on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
The news comes after the Today show was extended once again due to popular demand.
