Sinead Desmond reveals Ireland AM colleagues were 'saving grace' after marriage split

TV star Sinead Desmond has told how her Ireland AM colleagues were her “saving grace” after her marriage split.

The TV3 presenter revealed last year  that her marriage to husband of four years Davy Ryan had ended.

And Sinead, 38, admitted her job on morning show Ireland AM was the only thing that stopped her from contemplating her heartbreak.

She said: “Work kept me sane. It was a focus and it was the one point in the day when you weren’t thinking about that.

“Because when you are on live TV you can’t be thinking about other things – you have to be completely present, completely focused.

“It was my saving grace. [It] got me through it.”

However Sinead is remaining coy about whether she’s found a new man, admitting: “You can ask but I won’t tell you.”

And Sinead told the RTE Guide that she is glad to get on well with her colleagues Mark Cagney, Alan Hughes, Anna Daly and Aidan Cooney.

She added: “We’re highly dysfunctional, don’t worry. But you have to get on well. Mark said that to me when I first started.

“You cannot hide. So you may as well go off and be yourself and hope they like you.”
