Sile Seoige: I was delighted to be 'still intact' beneath my NAPPY pants each day on charity US cycle

Sile Seoige has told how she was ecstatic to find she was “still intact” beneath her cycle shorts after days biking around America.

The RTE presenter revealed she had to use special “nappy pants with a padded bum” for her 600km charity cycle down the whole West Coast of America.

And the 35-year-old – who covered 600km over five days with the Tour de Force cycle group – gave slightly too much information about her post-cycle delight at surviving ‘numb bum’.

She said: “I was well informed that there was a process. You get the special nappy pants with a padded bum.

“And then you lash on a load of cream pre and post cycle. And apparently that’s what saved me.

“So I was always a little apprehensive, without going into too many details, taking the cycle shorts down of an evening and finding I was still intact and then ready to go for the next day.

“That’s way too much information isn’t it?”

And Sile, who has helped raise thousands, told Eoghan McDermott on Breakfast Republic that she was “slightly surprised I came back without a scratch on me” being a “complete novice” cycler.

She added: “I was in awe of everybody and was deeply humbling for me on many levels. It really put me in my box in terms of fitness, because I thought I was really, really fit.

“I am reasonably fit, but biking is a totally different things. I was like, ‘How do you use gears?’ And the classic, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing here!’

“But I got through. Beside the fact that my bum was a bit saw – can’t lie and say it wasn’t – I didn’t fall off the bike which was major success for me.”

But Sile said she did get a lot of help to make it through the gruelling trek.

“I can’t say that I didn’t have any help. I had a strong hand on my back pushing me up quite a few hills and I was very, very thankful for them each and every time,” she said.

“We did the iconic going over the Golden Gate Bridge, which I will never forget. Because we had 54 of us cycling across, we had a full police escort, it was the stuff of dreams.

“We were literally going across, going: ‘Don’t forget this, this is amazing’. And it was. We all just felt really lucky.”

Previously Sile caused an online storm with an X-rated remark joking that she “came” at a Kylie Minogue concert.
