Shane Filan reveals he gets recognised more in south-east Asia than Ireland

Shane Filan has revealed that he gets recognised more in south-east Asia than he does in his native Ireland.

The former Westlife singer is currently performing a set of shows in Indonesia and Vietnam.

He told The Irish Mirror, “They definitely didn’t forget, it’s incredible out here.

“I was driving along from the airport the other day and there was a huge big billboard of me for a show I’m doing over here next month, it’s just weird.”

“It’s funny, everyone notices you. I was in a shopping mall the other night and everyone spots you and asks for a photograph. I suppose they don’t expect to see you.”

“I get recognised more here than I would in Dublin, it’s mad. But it’s great, it’s why I’m here so much.”

The father-of-three’s new album Love Always is set to be released on the 25th of August and features a mix of new songs and covers of classic love songs.

He will return home next week as part of the line-up for the Punchestown Music Festival, along with Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler.
