Shane Filan: ‘I got through my bankruptcy, now I’m a stronger person’

Shane Filan has admitted since going through serious money struggles he has become a stronger person.

The Westlife singer filed for bankruptcy in 2012 after a €23 million debt.

Now four years on Shane says he has come out the other side and is in a much better place.

“You have to think of going through something like that in your life is that there is going to be an end and another side is in reach,” he told the Irish Daily Mail.

“You have to believe that you will get there and thankfully I did with the help of some good people around me.

“Looking back at it now I accept that it is a part of my life that happened and you just move on and I am a much happier and stronger person now than I was before.

“I am a completely different person now and I am very positive about the future because you can’t change the past,” he explained.

Now Shane is concentrating on his solo career, still touring the world with his first solo album Right Here.

Speaking about moving from Westlife to a solo career, Shane said he’s finally used to being on stage alone.

“I am comfortable with performing on my own now” he admitted.

“I actually have been for some time now and I think the first year I started touring on my own was daunting.

“It definitely took me a year or so to get used to being on stage without the lads. But now I don’t even think about it,” he added.
