Sarah Greene has opened up about the scrutiny she experienced in the press, after splitting from Aidan Turner in 2015.
The Irish actress, who is now based in London, first started dating the Poldark hunk in 2010, and the pair even got engaged – before going their separate ways five years later.
Although the exes remained on good terms and never said a bad word about one another, Sarah has now admitted that the scrutiny she experienced after their break up was tough to handle, but she chose to ignore it.
“No one likes that scrutiny or people thinking they know something about you and they’re just guessing – you know, reading a ‘source says’ and taking that as verbatim. I just ignore it now though and I did at the time as well,” she revealed in the April issue of Image Magazine.

“At first it got to me and then it was like, ‘you know what? People can say whatever they want, people are always going to say whatever they want.
“My mates and my family know who I am and that’s all I really care about. Making my parents proud and happy.”
Now, Sarah’s in no rush to find love again, and revealed that she’d be reluctant to date another actor.
“I’m not on the lookout right now so I haven’t really thought about it. If I meet someone nice, great, but I’m very happy on my tod.”

In the same interview, Sarah also praised Saoirse Ronan for ‘paving the way’ for Irish actresses, and opening doors for them at home and abroad.
“It’s a really exciting time for Irish actresses and actually women from all different parts of this creative industry.
“It’s opening up more and more. It was kind of Saoirse Ronan who really paved the way – she’s the youngest of us all, but she did. She paved the way and opened doors for all of us. We’re all rising on her coat-tails and I’d take any job she doesn’t want to do,” she added.
