Sarah Greene: 'Aidan celebrated the referendum by running off with another man'

Winner of two IFTAs this evening, Sarah Greene revealed why her Poldark hunk, Aidan Turner, couldn’t attend the awards with her because he “went off with a fella”.

Joking about Aidan, the star was in high spirits after the passing of yesterday Marriage referendum with the Cork native saying that she was “very proud to be Irish”.

“It’s a good weekend, yeah was really nervous tonight – it could of been a disappointing night but thrilled, very proud of Ireland, very proud to be Irish,” she told Goss.ie.

“No,no [Aidan’s not here] – he went off with a fella yesterday,” she quipped.

Wearing a bespoke yellow Helen Cody Fall15 dress, the stunning brunette revealed that she had inspired the show-stopping gown.

“Helen Cody saw me in Noble and I think that’s what inspired the yellow because Christina is such sunshine around kids and these are actually little fortune cookies,” she told Goss.ie.

New show: Sarah opened up about her new RTE show| PATRICK O’LEARY

Attending the awards for the first with her family, Sarah spoke about her new role in RTE’s historical drama Rebellion alongside Brian Gleeson and Love/Hate’s Charlie Murphy.

“I’m very excited, back working with Charlie again,” she smiled.

“I’m playing May Lacey from Cork, it’s incredible, it’s really good writing, great female parts so jumped at the chance – they’re Really strong female characters”.
