They’ve been married for four years but Samantha Mumba has admitted that times are tough for her and her husband Torray Scales.
Although the pair are blissfully happy together and welcomed daughter Sage in March last year, Samantha revealed that current tensions between police officers and the Black Lives Matter movement has left her husband caught in the middle.
Samantha says she is terrified every time LAPD officer Torray goes to work but she supports him as he loves his job and wants to help people.

Speaking to The Irish Sun, Samantha said: “My husband is an African American and a police officer.
“So I’m like, ‘Jesus Christ, can you leave the house at all?’ He has to put on a bullet-proof vest to go to work.
“It’s extreme. But I can tell you he feels he’s in the right job where he can do good and take care of people – and that has never changed.”

Although Samantha has never been the victim of racism herself, she says it is rampant in America and something needs to be done.
“It’s a totally different culture, black people are treated totally differently in America. I think they have a very different history and a history that is not that old. I support the message of Black Lives Matter in America, because there are absolutely issues over there,” Samantha explained.
“I haven’t had personal experiences of my race being an issue in America but that could be down to me being oblivious to it.”

Samantha has also shared her support for the Black Lives Matter movement on her Instagram, sharing a picture of a sign with the words, “If you are not angry, you are not paying attention”.
And she added: “Privilege is when you think something is not a problem because it’s not a problem to you personally.” So many feelings I want to articulate but they all feel redundant right now. #blacklivesmatter”
