Ryan Tubridy’s awareness of climate issues came from his daughters

Ryan Tubridy said that his awareness of climate change and environmental issues comes directly from his daughters Ella and Julia.

The long-standing Irish TV presenter told The Mail on Sunday that the upcoming generation is leading the change when it comes to the current climate crisis.

“This new generation of 15-year-olds-plus, there is something about them.”

Referencing Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg, he continued:

“You had these young people outside Dáil Éireann because of this girl who is in the Houses of Parliament giving lectures to MPs. They are proactive and smart. I like these guys.”

“I have one of them. The other is too young and the way they are engaged and their cleverness I think the future looks okay.”

“I would say that most of my awareness comes from my girls with regards to climate.”

Just this week, Ireland became the second country in the world to declare a climate emergency.

The declaration occurred following weeks of climate action  protests.
