Ryan Tubridy reveals the line-up for the return of The Late Late Show

Ryan Tubridy has revealed the line-up for the return of The Late Late Show.

The popular presenter will return to our screens this Friday, September 3, and he will be joined by a host of guests.

The Script, the son of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, Irish Olympic heroes, Boy George, Dolores O’Riordan’s mother Eileen, The Cranberries drummer Fergal Lawler and Irish CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan will be chatting to Ryan on the season premiere of the show.

Speaking on his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Wednesday morning, Ryan said: “We’re back. It’s the 60th season of the show, imagine that. So who are we going to be saying hello to on Friday night?”

“First of all, The Script, one of our favourite bands in the country. They’re just enormous, and they’ve a greatest hits album coming out so they’ll be performing a couple of songs which is going to be gorgeous.”

“On a more serious note, the son of Sophie Toscan du Plantier will be flying in from Paris exclusively to talk to us on The Late Late Show on Friday night, to talk about the impact of losing your mother in such a brutal way on this island, and why he still visits the home where his mother was murdered.”

“In a more celebratory note, we’ll be talking to our Olympic heroes. We’ll be talking to Kellie Harrington, Paul O’Donovan, Fintan McCarthy, Aidan Walsh, Aifric Keogh, Eimear Lambe, Fiona Murtagh, Emily Hegarty – who all did such a great job for the country over the summer.”

“A man I’ve never met before, grew up listening to him, grew up watching him on TV on Top of the Pops – Boy George is going to be on the show. Really interesting, hugely Irish heritage, very excited he’ll be live in studio,” Ryan added.

“We’re going to have a musical tribute, and another woman I’m looking forward to saying hello to is Eileen O’Riordan, who is the mother of Dolores O’Riordan – who would have been 50. We want to talk about Dolores, her talent, and her mischievous nature.”

“We’ll also be joined by Fergal Lawler from The Cranberries so it’ll be a lovely celebration of Dolores and the band.”

“We’ll also catch up with our favourite CNN journalist Donie O’Sullivan live in studio about his adventures on the outskirts of American society.”

“I promised you a big show, and that is a big show and it’s very very exciting. We’re good to go. Can’t wait for your company.”

The Late Late Show returns on Friday, September 3 on RTÉ One at 9:35pm.
