Ryan Tubridy on his Ethiopia trip: 'It's a humbling privilege to be here'

Ryan Tubridy has just landed in Ethiopia with Goal and has reflected on the ‘humbling’ experience.

Just last week it was revealed that Ryan would be moving from 2fm to Radio One replacing John Murray but until that time the Late Late Show host has embarked on a trip to Africa.

“This is my first visit to Africa and, obviously, to Ethiopia, a country I knew very little about,” he said.

It was also revealed last week that the radio presenter would not be working in the BBC this summer which allowed time to go on this trip.

“After just one day here in Gambella, watching the work that GOAL does here, my eyes and mind have been opened more than I could have anticipated.

“It’s going to be a fascinating and educational week and it’s a humbling privilege to be here,” he added.

When Ryan returns from his trip he will be starting into his new slot on RTE Radio One.

Meanwhile, the breakfast show and the Nicky Byrne show will be extended to fill hill slot.
