Ryan Tubridy is currently taking time off from his RTE Radio 1 show – as he has a “persistent cough”.
The TV host was at home on Wednesday morning, with comedian Oliver Callan taking over his radio slot.
Oliver told listeners that Ryan was “getting it checked out” and said he had the cough for “a few days”.
“He’s getting it checked out and hopefully he will be back on the Late Late Show this Friday, hale and hearty and doing what they’ve been doing over the last few weeks.
“Which I think has been very helpful to a lot of us and entertaining as well,” he said.
“And probably, more importantly, making it feel like Friday so that we can keep track of the days and weeks in this thing,” he added.
It comes after Ryan took a COVID-19 test live on the Late Late Show last Friday, but insisted the test would not be sent off to the lab as he didn’t want to “waste resources”.

Ryan has been praised for his addresses to the nation at the start of each Late Late Show since the Coronavirus pandemic hit Ireland.
