Ryan Tubridy has lead the tributes to Gay Byrne on the second anniversary of his death.
The former Late Late Show presenter passed away on November 4, 2019 at the age of 85 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Speaking on his RTÉ Radio One show on Thursday morning, Ryan said: “I remember being in a cinema in Ranelagh, filming a promo for the Toy Show and I knew that my old pal wasn’t well, and the text came through to say, ‘I’m afraid he’s gone’.”
Joe Duffy took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late RTÉ star, writing: “Legend. Gay Byrne 5th August 1934-4th November 2019. R.I.P.”

Life FM presenter Joe Seward also paid a touching tribute to the legendary broadcaster.
He wrote: “Gay Byrne’s Second Anniversary today. He changed the course of Irish Life with top class Investigative broadcasting both on Radio & on @RTELateLateShow.”
“He was never afraid to challenge the establishment. He was ahead of his time. Sadly missed. #LateLateShow #GayByrne.”
